Careers in public education are important because they help to shape the future of the world. As students develop greatly throughout their school years, teachers help them learn about their interests, administrators develop a well-functioning school and counselors help students to work through their problems and figure out their goals.
Teaching Jobs
Teachers play a role in helping students develop and learn for their future. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, "Whether in elementary or high schools, or in private or public schools, teachers provide the tools and the environment for their students to develop into responsible adults." The job normally requires more than 40 hours per week, when including actual teaching time and preparation time. During summer vacation, though, teachers do not work, unless they are teaching summer classes.
